In fact there is a significant difference between “Plan a Flight” and “Create a new flight”. Thanks a lot for pointing out this apparent unclarity.
In order to clarify the difference between both functions please consider the following explanation:
“Create a new flight” means creating a new flight from scratch, initially using the current date and time, and using your default settings with regards to default aircraft and default airport (departure airport). In this case the plus sign in the route icon is a strong indication for “creating a new flight”.
In opposite to that the “Plan a Flight” (route symbol) button brings you just back to the current flight, which you were using as the last flight in use.
